When I was in the U.S. Army at Ft. Campbell, KY in the 1980’s and was an Avionic Mechanic, we shared our hanger with Chinooks. They were so cool looking! Our helicopters were UH-1Hs (Hueys) and OH-58s. One Huey was the Post Commander’s helicopter.

I’m still convinced it’s an RC!! Too awesome to be real!!!

That’s not a handbrake turn. Helicopter pilots call it a “zero gee return to target”. I know this because I was riding a helicopter into the Grand Canyon for a white water rafting trip, aide by side with the pilot, and he asked me if I’d like to see a “zero gee return to target”. I knew he was an ex-military pilot from the day before when I volunteered to help him clean off the aircraft, so I was happy to say “YES!” Even though I didn’t know what it was, and this was my first time in a helicopter. My mom and my grandmother were in the back. I don’t think they were as pleased to experience this maneuver.

Now i know the name of the turning, i saw a indian cost guard chopper doing above my medical shop, 🙏
